Freewheel set

Upgrade your kit car with a freewheel mounted to the rear axle.

The GPmods freewheel solution is built around a sprag clutch (one way bearing) and a CNC machined sleeve that mounts to the axle using a roll pin - just as the original does.

The standard kit car drivetrain has no freewheel, which means that any time the throttle is lifted the car slows significantly as the axle turns the motor. It is better to freely coast where possible rather than decelerate the car, and this is the purpose of the sprag clutch freewheel.

The GPmods freewheel set includes:

  • Steel axle adapter sleeve (CNC machined)

  • Sprag clutch

  • Laser cut interface between freewheel and sprockets

  • Fittings (nuts, bolts circlips etc...)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This set will not directly fit to the standard Greenpower axle sprockets, so some modification would be required. The bore of the standard Greenpower sprocket is the same as the axle diameter so would need opening up. Additionally, mounting holes will need drilling to bolt the freewheel to the sprocket. If these modifications are beyond your team's comfort zone, then please consider the GPmods split sprocket and freewheel set which is a complete drivetrain package requiring no special machining or tools.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.
